NSFAS applications: zero fraud tolerance!
The North-West University (NWU) encourages all eligible students to apply for financial assistance through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). This vital programme plays an important role in making higher education accessible and helping students achieve their academic goals.
At the same time, we must emphasise that the NWU has a zero-tolerance stance towards fraud. Any form of dishonesty, misrepresentation of information, or fraudulent activity in the NSFAS application process, or in any financial or academic matter, will not be tolerated. Such actions undermine the integrity of our institution, disadvantage deserving students, and carry serious consequences in line with university regulations and the law.
We urge students to apply for NSFAS with honesty, integrity, and the necessary supporting documentation, ensuring that assistance is directed to those who truly qualify. At NWU, we remain committed to fairness, accountability, and protecting the opportunities of our student community.

“NSFAS is not just an administrative entity. It is the difference between opportunity and exclusion for many young people.”
Minister Manamela emphasised that the NSFAS administration intervention is about protecting students — not punishing individuals.
Key priorities include:
- Ensuring student allowances continue without interruption
