You are cordially invited to the 2nd NWU AI Lunch & Learn Session, hosted by the NWU AI Working Group, featuring guest speaker Mr. Dennis Kriel, a Senior Instructional Designer/Educational Technologist at the Department for Education Innovation at the University of Pretoria.
Title: Enhancing Practical Legal Education with an AI Chatbot Simulation.
This presentation explores the innovative use of an AI chatbot to simulate real-world legal consultations, designed to enhance practical legal education for final-year law students. In collaboration with the University of Pretoria Law Clinic and the Department of Education Innovation, the AI simulation project provides students with hands-on experience through various stages such as legal aid application preparation. It offers opportunities for formative and summative assessments while allowing supervising attorneys to provide personalised feedback. This project addresses challenges in legal education, such as limited practical experience and resource constraints, by leveraging AI to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
