Beyond Boundaries, Beyond Expectation
At the North-West University (NWU), we believe curiosity isn’t something you outgrow.
It’s something you grow into.
In the spotlight
- Applications for the 2027 academic year are open
- Selection courses close on 30 June.
- General (non-selection) courses and residence applications close on 31 August.
Behind every NWU student is a dream, a family, a future, and a story still being written. For some students, outstanding debt becomes the barrier between where they are and the qualification, they have worked so hard to complete.
Giving Week is your opportunity to help change that.
Some moments are visible. Others happen quietly. But together, they tell the story of NWU: a university of people, purpose and impact. Explore NWU moments!
Welcome to North-West University! Not just an institution, but a community committed to excellence, purpose and impact.
For international students, NWU offers more than a qualification.

Every day, North-West University (NWU) students, researchers and community partners are making a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities.

North-West University is home to academic excellence that makes a meaningful difference – locally and globally.
Through #DidYouKnow?, we highlight the outstanding work being carried out across our faculties. From groundbreaking research to evidence-based achievements, we showcase the real impact of NWU on communities, industries, and society.

NWU Purple Pulse is a project initiated by North-West University to provide all students, faculty members, and staff with discounted deals on technology, data, laptops and everyday consumables.
The prices are specially negotiated for the university and include ongoing fundraising initiatives - the more sales generated through the online platform, the greater the benefit for both the university and its students.

Purple Friday is more than a colour. It is a symbol of shared identity, values in action and a culture where people feel seen, connected, and proud to say: "I am NWU"!

Youth Month is more than a date on the calendar – it is a reminder of the strength, resilience and potential of South Africa’s young people. Every June, we honour the legacy of the youth of 1976, whose courage and determination helped shape the course of our country’s history. Their voices continue to inspire new generations to stand up, speak out and strive for a better future.

A Community Engagement initiative by NWU staff, students and the Faculty of Health Sciences in collaboration with our community.
