NWU Women in Leadership

women in leadership

In 2023, the North-West University’s (NWU) People and Culture division launched a groundbreaking leadership programme for women at NWU.

The Women in Leadership initiative at NWU is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of our female workforce. This initiative focuses on promoting professional development and providing extensive training opportunities for women within our institution.

Following the program's successful launch, ambassadors from various faculties and divisions will be appointed to help identify specific training needs and implement tailored programs to address them. This initiative aims to foster continuous improvement, ensuring that our current and future women leaders remain competitive and well-equipped to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving higher education industry.

Our ambassadors

With Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof Linda Du Plessis, serving as the champion, ambassadors from different faculties and divisions have been carefully selected to identify specific training needs and implement tailored programmes to address them.

  • Targeted training: Training programmes will be tailored to the actual needs of each department and faculty, maximising their effectiveness.
  • Employee engagement: Ambassadors’ involvement will engage employees in the training process, making them more invested in their own development.
  • Efficient resource allocation: Resources will be allocated where they are most needed, optimising the use of training budgets.
  • Continuous improvement: The feedback loop ensures that training programmes evolve to meet changing needs and industry trends.
  • Cross-departmental collaboration: Ambassadors can facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across faculties and departments.

At the NWU, we celebrate the remarkable women in leadership roles and the impact they make beyond, including staff, students, and alumni.

These women embody greatness, break barriers, and lead with unwavering confidence. They are mentors, leaders, and warriors who fearlessly pursue their dreams and create positive change. Their contributions extend far beyond their roles, leaving an invaluable impact on society.
