We have selected a first cohort of 3 traditional communities in North West Province to establish ancient grain farming operations.
The first is the Batloung Ba Ga Shole of Ramatlabama Six Hundred Village, on the outskirts of Mahikeng. Pending the obtaining of the necessary Environmental Impact Assessment Reports from the government, which will allow us to clear land and establish larger fields for crop cultivation, we have identified 20 participating households who are growing seeds for us in their household gardens.
On the 20th of November 2025, we hosted our first training and information session and provided the families with the first seeds. We hope to harvest by April 2026 and to have enough seeds for meaningful expansion on their communal land. We will all learn important lessons about the soil, the amaranth plants, and caring for crops.
