About us

The Centre for Continuing Professional Development (CCPD) is the official hub of short learning programmes at the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University. The centre offers a range of short learning programmes which are customised to meet the needs of both individuals and organisations who wish to improve their skills and knowledge in the professional workplace. All courses are formally certified by the university.

CCPD was established in September 2003 at the NWU Vaal and is responsible for the administration of all short courses, workshops and conferences offered by the campus.

The North-West University is an accredited multi-purpose Higher Education provider with SAQA. The HEQC is the ETQA of this sector. As part of the quality assurance process of the HEQC, the NWU also has an agreed-upon quality assurance process in place for formal qualifications and short courses. Part of this, is the approval of short courses by the Institutional Committee for Academic Standards (ICAS).

Following regulations in the Institutional Policy for Short Courses, all short courses are divided into Credit-bearing and Non-credit-bearing short courses.
