Technology and innovation are seen as the catalysts for driving firm performance and competitive advantages, thereby laying the foundations for an entrepreneurial environment. The modern environment is subject to much volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA), and as such has increased competition between firms. This VUCA environment possesses many challenges to firms as they develop mechanisms to outpace the competition in an endeavour to sustain market positioning. It is within this context that the creation of an entrepreneurial environment is explored by understanding the linkages between technology, innovation, firm performance and competitive advantages.
