Description

This week is all about the celebration of the linguistic diversity of the North-West University.

The NWU is proud of its multilingualism. It depicts our beautiful cultural diversity, enabling us to broaden our horizon, grow in respect for one another and renew our ideas.  While it is true that we come from different backgrounds and speak different languages, it is also true that language brings us all closer.

Our theme for this week is:

  • Language as a right
  • Language as a resource
  • Language as a responsibility

Each day is kicked off with a short video portraying the celebration of our different languages. Watch these by simply clicking on the link in the programme. There is also an interesting variety of live sessions that you may register to attend. Please do.

Furthermore, do not miss out on our student contributions in the form of audio- and video recordings on “My language” and creative texts published in the anthology entitled Voices. The winning contributions will be available on the LAW site. Simply click on the link to access these lovely contributions. Winners in both these initiatives will be awarded prizes. See the details.

Lastly, put your knowledge of languages to the test, and attempt to translate the conversation held by lecturers. The first person to translate correctly, will be win a R500 voucher from Takealot.
