Description

The Africa Unit for Transdisciplinary Health Research (AUTHeR) is proud to announce a webinar about the Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis, presented by Prof Cristian Ricci, an experienced biomedical statistician. Prof Cristian shares his expertise on Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis. This webinar will be beneficial to supervisors, postgraduates, lecturers and researchers.

Abstract

Systematic reviews and meta-analysis represent the most suitable way to investigate a topic considering all available scientific information. According to the Cochrane collaboration, systematic reviews and meta-analysis are at the top of the evidence-based medicine pyramid. On the one hand, systematic reviews aim to perform a qualitative synthesis of the scientific knowledge accumulated up to date. On the other hand, a meta-analysis is a qualitative statistical methodology that merges the results from many independent studies. With this two-day webinar, you will learn how to use both tools. You will learn how to design your research strategy and build your research team. Eventually, you will become independent to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis from scratch.

The webinar will be on the following days:

  • Day 1 (17 October 2022):

Morning session: Definitions, research strategies and team building.

Afternoon session: Compute the search string, select your papers, and perform the qualitative synthesis.

  • Day 2 (18 October 2022):

Morning session: Data extraction and processing.

Afternoon session: Perform a meta-analysis, influence analysis, publication bias assessment and meta-regression.

Please note: All webinars will begin at 09:00 and end at 15:30.
