The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is a prestigious, globally recognised academic platform that challenges postgraduate researchers to communicate the essence of their research within three minutes, using a single static slide. Originally developed in 2008 at The University of Queensland, hosted in South Africa by the University of the Free State, 3MT was designed to strengthen researchers’ ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives for non-specialist audiences. As such, 3MT not only celebrates research excellence but also enhances the visibility, accessibility, and societal contribution of postgraduate students in an increasingly knowledge-driven world. North-West University, having inaugurated its participation in 2021, proudly celebrates its 6th edition.
