Africa Day was celebrated on 25 May and the NWU has the opportunity again to host the Africa Day celebrations on the Mahikeng Campus on 27 May 2022. This year the theme is The Year of Nutrition - Strengthening Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on the African Continent.
As the NWU community, we would like to get involved and contribute our part to Africa Day and to the theme of nutrition. Through the values of Caring and Inclusive and Embracing Diversity, let us join hands and celebrate and contribute to Africa Day.
We invite all staff and students and the NWU community at large to join us in these celebrations -
Date: Friday 27 May 2022
Venue: Great Hall, Mahikeng Campus
Time: 10h00
Here are a few ways to get involved:
- All staff and students are invited to be part of the celebration and attend. Kindly register here if you wish to be part of this wonderful event. Places are limited, but we would still like to invite all to visit the exhibition that will be on display by different members of the NWU and the community about what Africa Day means to them.
- On 26 and 27 May there will be street-walk-art days where staff and students can draw with chalk on the sidewalks (What does Caring and Inclusive and Embracing Diversity look like to you?). There will be pictures taken off the best art and displayed at the exhibition on Africa Day. As the theme for Africa Day is nutrition, kindly also bring along non-perishable nutritious food items and drop it in the containers at the side-walk art stalls. These will then be distributed to people in need.
- In June, the main value focus will be Caring and Inclusive as well as Embracing Diversity. P&C and Student Life, in collaboration with Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations, challenge all staff members and students to get involved in the community. For the month of June, a campaign will be launched to embrace and live these values and show it in getting involved in the community.
