Dr Sammy Bett Bio
Dr Sammy Bett has been a senior GIS and Remote Sensing technician since 2014 and he is also a full-time member of staff at the North-West University. He has more than 11 years’ experience as a GIS Consultant/Specialist. Well-versed in quantitative analytical and qualitative research, particularly with urban and rural geography, economic geography, urban agriculture, urban growth monitoring, population geography, medical geography, and environmental management. With, expertise in advanced satellite imaging processing, land cover mapping, time-series analysis, and land use and land cover change (LULC) analysis. He has experience in the development of GIS studies for diverse types of projects: Land use zoning, etc. Dr Sammy Bett received his doctorate in the field of Philosophy in Environmental Science from the North West University in 2019. He has authored several publications on Monitoring of urban sprawl, Impact on the Surface Water Quality, Modelling the dynamics of the cancer risk due to potentially toxic elements and Sediment pollution by heavy metals. Currently, he is working on a few projects on Modelling the environmental dynamics and the risk for chronic diseases, informal developments and impacts of climate change, which will be published in early to mid-2024.
