Short bio of Dr Masego “Easy” Matjila
Dr Easy Matjila was recently honored with an honorary doctorate by the North-West University for his outstanding record of accomplishment in promoting Setswana language in broadcasting. He started his career at the SABC more than 30 years ago as an on-air radio personality for Radio Setswana which became known as Motsweding FM after its merger with another popular Setswana radio station called Radio Mmabatho.
During this time, he was also responsible for the Archives which catered for Radio Setswana, Afrikaans Service as well as Radio Ndebele (Ikwekwezi FM) and Radio Swazi (Ligwalagwala FM). He was subsequently appointed as Setswana Sports Commentator for SABC Topsport (SABC Sports) before he was seconded to the News Department where he worked as Sesotho, Sepedi and Setswana Prime Time News Presenter from 1993 until he retired from the SABC in 2021.
