To mark Global Recycling Day, North-West University (NWU) has introduced a waste recycling awareness initiative for its residences.
North-West University (NWU) has implemented a recycling program across its three campuses to promote sustainability and reduce landfill waste. From October 2024 to February 2025, the university recycled 119.26 tons of waste, accounting for 40% of its total general waste, while 176.94 tons (60%) were sent to landfills. Through these efforts, NWU reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 46.74 tons, diverted significant waste from landfills, and saved 467 trees, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
