The NWU Faculty of Humanities is proud to host the 1st National Humanities Higher Degree Conference: 1st Announcement and Call for Abstracts. The conference aims to bring together higher degree students and study leaders from various Humanities study topics. The world is rapidly advancing in many areas, such as technology, but it is also regressing into a disruptive, unstable environment. Humanities studies can contribute to a more civilized and harmonious society. The question is, how?

Focusing on the main theme, any topic in the following subject fields is welcome:

  • Media
  • Communication
  • Arts
  • Music
  • Languages
  • Social sciences (including history, sociology, anthropology, population and development studies)
  • Philosophy
  • Government studies (including politics, international relations and public administration)
  • Two specific sub-themes we want to encourage in the different subject fields are:
  1. Decolonisation and
  2. Digital humanities.
