The Department of Technical Services is the engine room of the campus. It is responsible for the excellent, cost-effective maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the NWU and the off-campus facilities of the University, as well as for preventative maintenance.

The objectives of Technical Services are to:

- Ensure that the physical infrastructure is maintained at a satisfactory level by offering support and advice in our daily, preventative and emergency maintenance.

- Ensure that the campus facilities are utilised optimally by employing a facility management programme and by keeping data on the facilities up to date with the aid of computerised drawings and a database.
