Description

You are cordially invited to a Seminar titled "How Research Policies Shape the Research Environment". This hybrid seminar aims to raise awareness and deepen understanding of how institutional governance influences the research environment through policy frameworks and oversight systems. It offers an opportunity to engage with policymakers and research leaders, understand policy expectations, and consider their practical implications for researchers. Established and Emerging researchers, Research Directors, Members of Research Ethics Committees and Scientific Committees Members, and administrative staff involved in Research and Publication are invited to attend.

By the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the role of institutional governance in shaping ethical and responsible research practices.
  • Identify the key provisions and expectations of NWU’s major research-related policies (Research Ethics, Academic Integrity, Animal Use Research, Artificial Intelligence, and Research Data Management).
  • Recognize common challenges, pitfalls, and ethical considerations that arise in applying these policies in practice.
  • Evaluate how policy frameworks and oversight systems influence researchers’ responsibilities and conduct.
  • Access and utilize available institutional resources and support structures to ensure compliance with research governance policies.
