Description

You are cordially invited to the African Community-Led Knowledge Co-Creation Conference. The conference will bring together representatives from academia and communities partners actively engaged in Community Scholarship and Engagement Projects.

This conference builds on the success of the inaugural Community-Led Knowledge Co-Creation Seminar, held last year as part of NWU’s strategic university–government partnership. It reflects the growing shift in African universities toward participatory, community-centred approaches to knowledge production—moving beyond traditional models where researchers unilaterally define community problems and interventions.

The conference will provide a platform for community stakeholders to lead discussions on the transformative role of university–community partnerships in:

  • Advancing local knowledge development aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063
  • Improving health outcomes in African communities
  • Expanding educational opportunities and access
  • Strengthening collaborative knowledge creation between communities and universities
  • Ensuring research relevance and measurable impact
