BRICS University President Forum

In the recent years, the five major emerging economies known collectively as the BRICS- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have dramatically transformed the world map of education, bringing million into school, establishing centres of world-class learning and driving innovation. In November 2013, ministers of education from the BRICS met at UNESCO headquarters in Paris to discuss for the first time opportunities for cooperation in education. The conclusion of this landmark meeting was unanimous agreement that the BRICS and the international community at large stand to gain hugely from enhanced collaboration among the five countries. The Sixth BRICS summit, held in Fortaleza, Brazil, in July 2014, brought this commitment to the next level, when BRICS leaders affirmed the strategic importance of education to sustainable development and inclusive growth and formally pledge to strengthen cooperation in this area.

To echo the spirit of this pledge, Beijing Normal University(BNU), is pleased to host the “ Brics University President Forum” , which aims to bring together university presidents and senior scholarsfrom BRICS countries, in order to discuss about strengthening cooperation at the university level, explore opportunities for joint research projects on a variety of academics disciplines, intensify exchange of students and teachers, share knowledge and best practices, so as to ultimately contribute to the scaling up of collaboration among BRICS countries in different areas.
