Description
You are cordially invited to the Research Ethics Committee Members Training, presented by Mrs Marzelle Haskins. This training will focus on upskilling and reskilling participants in the ethics review process, ensuring a thorough understanding of best practices. Training will only take up to 50 participants onsite and will offer the participants an opportunity to earn a certificate with CPD points.
Objectives
- Introduce foundational ethical principles: Explore vital ethical theories and frameworks that guide health research, including autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.
- Understand regulatory and legal frameworks: Provide knowledge of relevant laws and guidelines governing human and animal research (e.g., Declaration of Helsinki, Belmont Report, South African Ethics Guidelines)
- Provide a framework for systemic and coherent ethics review in health research: Foster the ability to critically analyse the ethical complexities of conducting health research in international and cross-cultural settings, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
- Promote responsible conduct of research: Encourage understanding and commitment to integrity in research, including issues like informed consent, privacy, data management,
- Examine case studies: Provide real-world examples to contextualise ethical principles in areas like clinical trials and other health research.
