About presenter:
Eugene Lee Davids holds a Bachelor of Psychology (B.Psych), a Masters and Doctoral degree in Child and Family Studies from the University of the Western Cape, and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Cape Town. His interdisciplinary academic background is in psychology and public health, where his research examines the social determinants of health and well-being of adolescents and emerging adults. He has worked in both the public and private higher education sectors in South Africa and as a consultant for the World Health Organization's Brain Health Unit. He is an Extraordinary Professor in the Optentia Research Unit at North-West University, an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the University of Cape Town, and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health Studies at the University of South Africa. Eugene's contributions to research and leadership have led to the following accolades: A National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher, an invited member of the South African Young Academy of Science (SAYAS), nominated as a Mail & Guardian 2017 Top 200 Young South Africans, a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, Abe Bailey and Desmond Tutu Emerging Leadership Fellow as well as a Donald J Cohen International Scholar in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
