Description

The Language Directorate cordially invites you to its annual Language Awareness Week, which will take place on all three NWU campuses. This year's theme seeks to create discussions around multilingualism in higher education and how to use the available linguistic resources to reach greater heights in teaching and learning. It also seeks to create awareness on the importance of developing and using digital resources to advance the quality of teaching and learning practices in higher education. Supporting multilingualism in the classroom can be a valuable pedagogical practice that positively impacts students' academic performance and social and emotional well-being.

Theme - Multilingualism: Reaching New Academic Frontiers through Linguistic Resources.

The Language Awareness Week is also an opportunity to celebrate our language development strides at the NWU whilst making everyone aware of the opportunities and challenges students face in academia in as far as multilingualism is concerned. It is a week full of festivities and great linguistic activities that seek to promote indigenous African languages at the NWU. However, please note that the symposium will be held at our Vanderbijlpark Campus on 29th of August 2024, from 10:00 –12:00.

Register here for the symposium taking place on the Vanderbijlpark Campus on August 29, 2024.
