Description

You are cordially invited to the 1st International Conference of the Afrocentric Governance of Public Affairs (AGoPA). The theme of the conference is: "Reflections on Afrocentric Governance in the 21st Century: Defiers of Advances, Dilemmas of Prospects."

Afrocentric Governance emphasizes African agency, history, culture, and values in achieving governance goals. From the epoch of postcolonial state formations, intellectual analysis of Afrocentric governance has always reflected not-so-pleasant accounts. The narrations about governance outcomes in Africa, contrary to the messaging spin of the early postcolonial political elites, echo much more to be desired. So far, Afrocentric governance has not helped consolidate Africa in her domestic affairs and the global exertion of power. Domestically, Afrocentric governance continues to agitate contradictions such as swelling alienation of citizens from the state and worsening state stability. Internationally, Afrocentric governance has not enabled African representations in notable intercontinental organisations such as the United Nations Security Council. The outcomes of African governance did not deter discontinuities inAfrican countries’ periphery status susceptible to exploitation by metropolitan developed nations in Europe and North America.
