Description

The NWU School of Social Sciences cordially invite you to a Virtual Seminar by Tendayi Garutsa, Andre Goodrich and Elize van Eeden.

Title: Teaching & Learning conversations on present and future transformations of Africa’s HET-lecturing space.

The presenters view this seminar as the opportunity to open a conversational space where we can all share our understandings and approaches to transformations of Africa’s HET-lecturing environment. Constructive conversations will assist in our collective reflection on current module designs in the School, and how we can establish durable considerations towards module designs by also building on what we have, and by improving the relationship between theory and praxis in our respective curricula.

The presenters:

  • The absent and the present: Reevaluating Sociological canon for a decolonial SOCY326 Gender Studies (Prof Tendayi Garutsa-Sociology-MC): (10 mins)
  • Disciplining the colonial wound, and wounding the colonial discipline – building a place to decolonise from for SANL323 (Dr Andre Goodrich-Social Anthropology): (10 mins)
  • Deontologising politicised concepts for proactive, practical research purposes in the theory and method-directed HIST 613 module (Prof Elize S van Eeden-History-VC): (10 mins)
