Title: Contracts that last: Rethinking the employee-employer deal in a sustainable world.

Abstract:

In an era of climate change, automation, gig work, and shifting employee values, the traditional psychological contract between employer and employee is under growing pressure. This public lecture explores how we can rethink and redesign these often-unwritten agreements to make them sustainable, not only for individuals and organisations, but also for society at large. Drawing on cutting-edge research, we will discuss what makes a psychological contract sustainable, the key dimensions that shape its clarity, scope, and longevity, and how these contracts can adapt to contemporary challenges such as precarity, mental health, and remote work. Through interactive discussion and practical exercises, participants will be invited to reflect on their own employment relationships and explore ways to build contracts that truly last.
