The Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning and the Language Directorate (LD) are pleased to invite you to the Language Policy Conversation Series.
These conversations will bring together staff and students to discuss our Language Policy, share ideas on new implementation approaches, and explore the increasing influence of AI on language. These will serve as a platform for dialogue aligned with our policy review, providing an opportunity to shape future strategies. With rapid technological advancements, AI offers both exciting possibilities and significant challenges for language development, policy implementation, and inclusive education.
This year’s Language Policy Conversation Series will function as a space for both reflection and forward-looking discussion, where we will:
- Engage with the NWU Language Policy, assessing progress, challenges, and areas for growth.
- Explore the intersection of AI and language, examining how digital innovations can support translation, interpreting, learning, and teaching in multilingual contexts.
- Highlight innovative implementation strategies that we must leverage to ensure that multilingualism is seen as a valuable resource for transformation at the NWU.
