The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at North-West University (NWU) cordially invites fourteen higher education practitioners based outside South Africa to attend its 1st International Teaching Week, taking place from 14-18 September 2026 in South Africa.
The teaching week will be held at NWU on the Potchefstroom Campus. The theme will focus on African Footprints: Transforming Teaching and Learning in a Digital Age.
This event presents an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, learn from one another, promote internationalisation, and strengthen our partnerships through in-person engagement.
During the week, participants will have the opportunity to attend:
- A workshop on AI technology;
- Networking opportunities with research entities and staff members in five schools;
- Multiple teaching opportunities with a diverse group of students;
- An African bush experience with predator walk, game drive and bush braai; and
- A gala evening with fine dining and wine pairing.
Each school will have its own digital footprint – these are the subthemes:
School of Tourism Management
- Sustainable Footprints: Educating for Responsible Tourism Futures
- Key focus: sustainability, SDGs, and destination impact
School of Accounting Sciences
- Transparent Footprints: Accountability, Ethics, and Digital Transformation
- Key focus: ethical reporting, AI in accounting, fintech
School of Management Sciences
- Entrepreneurial Footprints: Innovation, Strategy, and Global Competitiveness
- Key focus: entrepreneurship, leadership, strategy, and future-ready graduates
School of Economic Sciences
- Economic Footprints: Driving Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development
- Key focus: policy, development, inequality, and African economies
School of Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management
- Human Footprints: Leading People in an AI-Driven World
- Key focus: AI, workplace transformation, leadership, people-centred innovation - a heart for people and a mind for business
The registration fee is R8000 (approx. €400). This includes:
- Accommodation (bed and breakfast) which is walking distance from campus from Sunday to Friday;
- All lunches and two dinners are included; other meals will be at participants' own expense;
- An African bush experience with predator walk, game drive and bush braai;
- A gala evening with fine dining and wine pairing;
- All teaching week transport to off-campus activities.
Participants are expected to cover their own travel to and from South Africa, including transport between the airport and accommodation.
