Dear alumni

I am pleased to report to you that we have successfully completed our first semester, despite the trying conditions posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. A word of thanks to all our students, staff and you, our alumni, for the engagement and support.

By the time you read this, the second semester would already have started.

We aim to ensure that we complete this semester successfully as well, hopefully under conditions of greater normality than those we have experienced since the lockdown commenced in March this year.

The challenges posed are likely to be felt for a number of years and we are fully committed to meeting these challenges to safeguard our position as a premier provider of higher education. We rely on your continued support to serve as role models for our youth and brand ambassadors for the NWU.

In this issue, you can read about our continued excellent performance in the global rankings indices. You will also learn about the way in which our research has impact and benefits our country and beyond.

Please keep safe.

With warm regards
