Botswana alumni gather in Gaborone

More than 2 000 NWU alumni live in Botswana, making the capital city of Gaborone the ideal place to host an alumni reunion.

At the latest alumni gathering, held at the Grand Palm Hotel on 17 May 2019, Prof Marilyn Setlalentoa, deputy vice-chancellor for community engagement and Mahikeng campus operations, represented the NWU.

In her address, Marilyn spoke about the progress made since the implementation of the new NWU strategy and the latest developments at the university. She also urged alumni to join the NWU Convocation.

“This will ensure that you partake in the promotion of the welfare of the university and actively influence its affairs through representation on the NWU Council,” she said.

The chairperson of the Botswana alumni chapter, Ms Yvonne Kgwarae, also appealed to alumni to participate in activities of their alma mater.

“I consider myself privileged to have received a solid foundation from the North-West University,” Yvonne said. “The place will always have a special place in my heart. So, as alumni of the university, let’s start to plough back to our institution.”
