Braving the cold for warm company

Outside, the rain was pelting down and a cold wind was howling, but inside The Class Room venue in Hermanus, the atmosphere was cosy and the company cheerful.

Enjoying each other’s company are from left Ian Rossouw, Binty Britz and Prof Rudolph Britz.

On 7 August, 22 alumni from Hermanus and the surrounding areas armed themselves with umbrellas and coats and bravely faced the weather. Their determination paid off and soon, with the help of the venue’s great staff and amazing food, conversation was flowing.

Once everyone was warm and dry, Prof Daryl Balia, the deputy vice-chancellor for campus operations in Potchefstroom, told the alumni about the important projects undertaken at the NWU, the university’s challenges and the road ahead.

Afterwards Warren Makgowe, director for stakeholder relations, thanked the guests and NWU staff for making the event such a great success. The rest of the evening was spent reminiscing about the olden days and those things that the alumni enjoyed most during their student years at the NWU.
