At the NWU we subscribe to the idea that greatness is meant for all of us and not reserved for a chosen few. Every day, every moment we have the potential to be greater than we currently are.

Let’s be greater than…

The “Greater than” sign encourages our stakeholders to keep moving because every moment has the capacity for growth and progress.

How they became ‘greater than’

These colleagues tell us how the NWU made them become “greater than”. Click on each photograph to read more.

In this video we challenge our students to push their boundaries, test their limits and be greater today than yesterday.

eish! asked Clement Manoko, executive director for corporate relations and marketing, to tell us more about the “Greater than” campaign and what being “greater than” looks like when it comes to our staff members.

“First of all, I would like to stress that you, our staff members, have already shown a ‘greater than’ attitude,” says Clement.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has created a lot of challenges for the NWU, and you have not only met those challenges but overcome many of them.

“You weren’t afraid to move out of your comfort zone and try new things to get the job done. This is the essence of ‘greater than’ as shown by the sign itself,” he adds.

Sign shows us the way

The “greater than” sign – an arrow head pointing forward – encourages our stakeholders to keep moving because every moment has the capacity for growth and progress.

“This progress isn’t always made through giant leaps, but rather small steps to complete your journey. By being greater, we want to encourage you to take this attitude further and to be greater today than you were yesterday or the day before,” says Clement.

He points out that the NWU offers many different opportunities to do just that. “Whether it is looking after your mental health or furthering your education, we want you to grab every opportunity to reach your full potential.”

We’ve accepted that challenge. Will you?

More about the campaign

The “Greater than” campaign is aimed at all NWU stakeholders, ranging from staff and students to alumni and prospective students. With this campaign we wish to inspire all our stakeholders to recognise and celebrate their greatness and the opportunities the NWU offers to help them become even greater.

Clement Manoko, executive director for corporate relations and marketing, says all stakeholders should grab the many opportunities the NWU offers them to become even greater that they are.
