It was the culmination of hard work, dedication and commitment for the MBA graduates when they received their degrees at the MBA graduation ceremony.

Top honours for financial consultant

Two women took top honours as the cream of the crop of the class of 2015.

Yolande Peach from Vanderbijlpark is top achiever of the NWU School of Business and Governance. She was awarded the gold medal from Old Mutual during the ceremony at the Crista-Galli conference centre.

She is an independent financial management consultant and is currently working for the consultancy company Redford Capital in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

“One can almost not be awarded an MBA if you are not first tested on how you can apply everything that you were taught in all the previous modules,” she said. “It was very hard work, but applying all the knowledge was certainly the best part of the course.”

Empowering women through e-commerce

The award for the best dissertation went to Almarie Stander from KwaZulu-Natal. She received the silver medal from PPS Investments for her exceptional mini-dissertation.

Almari wrote her min-dissertation on empowering women through e-commerce. She investigated how women can make a living through their own online businesses. This excellent mini-dissertation was done under the leadership of Prof Stephan van der Merwe.
