Q: What should staff and students do if someone posts defamatory, harmful or unlawful content on any social media platforms linked to them?

A: It is important to immediately remove the post or request the person who posted it to remove it. You must also untag yourself if you’ve been tagged in a post. You can report it to your social media representative. You can also report it to Facebook or the social media platform concerned.

Q: With all the dangers associated with social media, should staff and students still be encouraged to use these platforms?

A: Absolutely. These platforms, if used responsibly, are very powerful tools for engagement. They allow for great two-way communication and interactivity. They allow you to get to know your audience and their needs.
