Next phase of the NWU structure alignment

Dear NWU community

As previously communicated, the NWU top structure realignment process has been finalised, incorporating numerous suggestions received during the consultative process. The proposed structure will be presented to the NWU Council in September 2024 for approval.

We are now ready to start the next phase of the structure alignment, known as Phase 3B, which will commence in September 2024. This phase will centre around the cascading structures and will involve both faculties and support service divisions. I am pleased to inform you that after a thorough evaluation process, Deloitte Consulting has been selected as our partner to lead the Phase 3B project.

As we embark on this critical phase, I reiterate the importance of adhering to the set timelines. The success of this project relies heavily on our collective commitment to meeting deadlines and demonstrating strong leadership within our respective faculties and divisions. Please expect to receive emails inviting you to the engagement sessions and participate fully in the process.

The process is designed to ensure that you take ownership within your respective environments while Deloitte Consulting assumes a facilitative role. I encourage each of you to challenge your existing instincts and processes to develop optimal structures that are both efficient and effective. Let us foster a culture of continuous improvement by questioning our own judgments, as this will lead to more refined structures that benefit everyone.

Your involvement will be pivotal in ensuring that this realignment process is a success. I am mindful of your competing obligations, and I urge you to prioritise this important project as it is crucial for the implementation of our strategy, taking the NWU forward: 2024 and beyond.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment. Together, we will ensure that the NWU's structure is well-aligned with our strategic goals and that we optimise structures as we prepare for a NWU of the future.

Best regards
