New forum up and running to engage communities

The placement of students in community service positions is a top priority for the NWU's newly launched Community Engagement Stakeholders Forum.

"We are very excited about the new forum. The goal is to form reciprocal relationships with our communities and develop a database of stakeholders aligned with the NWU, especially for the purpose of placing students in community service positions," says Bibi Bouwman, director for sustainability and community impact.

#CleanUpVaal campaign

When one community takes pride in the cleanliness of its surroundings, others may be inspired to do the same. Setting the ball rolling, the Walking in Victory Movement, a Christian student chapter at the Vanderbijlpark Campus, recently launched the #CleanUpVaal campaign.

Jackets don't grow on trees;
they hang on trees

The NWU's Vanderbijlpark Campus recently held a "Hang a Hug" event to honour Mandela Day. As part of the campaign, both students and staff donated jackets, which were then hung on specific trees located around the campus.

Clothing donation drive benefits Potchefstroom communities

The Community and Stakeholder Engagement Office of the Student Campus Council on the Potchefstroom Campus recently hosted its annual Barefoot Day. The purpose of this event is to donate clothing and shoes to various projects, schools, children's homes and non-profit and non-governmental organisations.
