Since the inception of the Covid-19 lockdown, the NWU Gallery has kept art lovers entertained in the safety of their own homes. The gallery has hosted virtual exhibitions and showcased the works of numerous artists from the North West, Gauteng and Limpopo provinces.

Amohelang Mohajane, NWU Gallery curator, and her team quench the thirst of art lovers approximately every six weeks with a new exhibition.

In this video you will see the works of mother and son, Thina and Themba Minya. Their “Agility is the New Black” exhibition presents a refreshing and unique take on abstract themes of race, sexuality, identity politics, social struggle, feminism and the self.

With many of the new works created in isolation, they are brought together in this show as a visual conversation to represent the universal human experience.
