Discover the SETHI Explosions

In this edition, we would like to introduce you to the SETHI Explosions event featuring the ground-breaking research and commercialisation taking place across the NWU.

This annual week-long event was held in August in Potchefstroom. Did you miss it? Don’t worry – there are several videos that will give you a good idea of the research, development and commercial opportunities showcased to industry and other stakeholders at the SETHI Explosions.

Back to the beginning

The event was initiated in 2013 when the Faculty of Engineering launched an experience called “Engineering Explosions” to showcase its projects and research. The Faculty of Natural Sciences joined them in 2014 and again in 2015. A year later the event expanded to showcase science, engineering, technology, health and innovation, hence the new name, SETHI Explosions.

Since then, it has been successful in creating a networking platform for academics, researchers and industry through the combination of exhibitions and high-impact productions that were integrated into an evening filled with fun and entertainment.

When you click on the video above, the link will take you to the NWU’s YouTube channel. In this video you will find welcoming messages by Prof Frikkie van Niekerk, the former deputy vice-chancellor for research, innovation and technology, and Prof LJ Grobler, former dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

Next to this video on the YouTube channel you will see a play list of nine other videos. They are all about the research and innovation projects featured during the SETHI Explosions event. Happy viewing!
