They go the extra mile
The NWU has dedicated staff who routinely go above and beyond the normal call of duty.
In this article of Eish!'s extra mile series, we give recognition to colleagues who make
a difference in other people's lives by doing more than what’s expected of them.
Angie Danster
Claudie Kroese, manager for the Engenius bursary programme at the Faculty of Engineering on the Potchefstroom Campus, says Angie Danster puts in a lot of effort to help all prospective students and their parents who want to attend one of their three annual engineering schools.
“She treats everyone with respect and many of the parents consider her a friend. She is a great asset to the faculty. It is wonderful to know that she projects such a beautiful and positive image to all who contact the faculty.”
Marietjie Lombard
The middle management (MBP) subject group for 2015 at the School for Business and Management on the Potchefstroom Campus, says Marietjie Lombard, administrative officer, gives excellent service and regularly goes the extra mile to help. They say Marietjie’s friendliness and willingness to help are commendable. “Her administrative system is complete and up to date and she can immediately provide any information we need.”
They say Marietjie’s door is always open and that she goes out of her way to swiftly find information if she does not know something.
Boitumelo Molato
Boitumelo Molato, lecturer, has been put in charge of logistics at the School of Nursing Sciences on the Mafikeng Campus – and has risen enthusiastically to the challenge. Dr Kgomotso Direko, fellow lecturer, says the school has to deal with a lot of clinical learning issues in programme modules and Boitumelo excels in handling these. “He has been busy redesigning forms and processes to organise and coordinate issues involving equipment, teaching and assessment. He is involved in allocating learners at different levels to various clinical facilities.” She says when the clinical facilities are outside the district, Boitumelo makes meticulous travel arrangement and carefully keeps records.
Elza Moorcroft
Sonika du Plessis, senior administrative officer at Physical Infrastructure and Planning at the Institutional Office, says Elza Moorcroft, project administrator, is a shining example of someone who goes the extra mile.
“She regularly goes beyond the call of duty. It does not matter what the nature of the problems are, she actively tries to solve any problems that arise.”
Katlego Dutoitspan
Liana Venter, head of department and senior instructional designer at d-Media, nominates Katlego Dutoitspan. “He is a traffic controll officer at the E11 parking area on the Potchefstoom Campus and is always friendly and willing to help.” She says Katlego’s friendliness is a wonderful trait. “He always shows us where there is available parking and prevents others from parking wrongly in already assigned parking spaces. He is always on duty from early to late and definitely walks the extra mile.”
Lizelle Staats
Lizelle Staats, senior administrative assistant at the Faculty of Law on the Potchefstroom Campus, is always willing to assist and give support to people who have technology-related issues or problems.
Saritha Marais, personal assistant to the dean of the Faculty of Law, says Lizelle’s information technology knowledge makes her a mainstay at the faculty. “She shares her knowledge and helps where she can.”
