Thank You for Your Support

1st QUARTER 2022

The North-West University (NWU) has returned to an adapted approach of teaching/learning and although we still face COVID-19 and other challenges, this year has certainly kicked off on a positive note. Contact and face-to-face classes and engagements have been received well by staff and students alike. We are excited to announce that approximately 12 500 first-year students have registered to study at the NWU for the 2022 academic year. In total, more than 50 000 students are registered in our contact and distance-learning programmes.

Since the launch of our community and responsibility programmes and projects only a few months ago, we can already share some good news with you. These projects are made possible thanks to you, our donors' loyal support. You have made it possible for many of our students to register for their studies this year. You share our vision of changing the lives of our students and helping them to achieve their dreams and aspirations at #DiscoverNWU.

We will continue to keep you, our donors, up to date regarding the latest NWU news. This is integral towards deepening our partnerships.

Thank you for your continued support.

A special thanks to NWK Limited, PPS, and Tiger Brands who visited our campuses earlier this year. Please read more about this below.

Please get in touch with our development and fundraising team to get involved in any of our programmes. Visit our website for details: https://www.nwu.ac.za/meet-team.

Once again, on behalf of the NWU, I thank you for your continued support and contributions in helping us to become #GreaterTogether. Together we can achieve so much more!

We hope to meet you in person soon.

Sincerely

Prof. Linda du Plessis
Acting Principal and Vice-Chancellor

The Tiger Brands' Plates4Days programme offers essential sustenance to students who do not have regular access to proper meals. They are provided with a nutritious meal each day, allowing them to focus on academic success.

NWK spends the day with the Ikateleng and fundraising team

One of our most loyal donors, NWK, recently sent Johan Bezuidenhout, its Group Manager of Corporate Marketing and Communication, to visit the Ikateleng project in Potchefstroom. Johan learned about the positive impact of the NWK gift on the results of the learners and brainstormed ideas around the NWK's support for 2022. Afterwards, Johan joined Winton Windell of the NWU for an enjoyable Varsity Cup game!

PPS gives 37 fresh laptops to incoming NWU students

With our students still challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic, PPS and the NWU joined forces to make life a little easier for 37 talented, hard-working youths. On 22 February, PPS visited Potch to hand over laptops to four of last year's top Ikateleng-learners, all fresh-faced first-years who are now enrolled at the NWU. The visit was punctuated with a fruitful discussion of how PPS could best make an impact on campus in 2022.
