AMBA AND BGA ACCREDITATIONS

The NWU-BS had a virtual re-accreditation visit by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) on 20 and 21 October 2021. The AMBA is the only professional membership association that connects MBA students and graduates, accredited business schools and MBA employers worldwide. The association is committed to raising the profile and quality standards of business education internationally for the benefit of business schools, MBA students and graduates and alumni, employers, communities and society. The school took advantage of the AMBA re-accreditation visit and applied for the BGA accreditation. The BGA accreditation is a gold-standard quality assurance achievement awarded to business schools that can demonstrate an increasing impact on their students and communities over a measurable period using BGA’s continuous impact model (CIM), which assesses the improvement in impact across a range of metrics. The BGA accreditation is designed to provide both quality-assurance and quality-enhancement mechanisms for institutions worldwide in order to ensure the value of the qualification for potential students, graduates, employers and society. Accreditation plays a key role in informing prospective students and employers about the institution’s quality and its programmes. The purpose of the AMBA accreditation visit was to evaluate the school to grant it international accreditation. Not only has the prestigious international Association of MBAs (AMBA) renewed the MBA accreditation of the NWU-BS for five years, but the school was also awarded a two-year BGA accreditation. This officially makes the NWU-BS the first school on the African continent to receive international accreditation from the Business Graduates Association (BGA). This accreditation gives our NWU-BS worldwide recognition and honour. The AMBA accreditation identifies the best programmes from the thousands available, and the developmental nature of their process helps us to spot potential shortcomings. They provide a comprehensive report detailing recommendations for potential future improvements, ensuring that the NWU-BS continues to grow.
