Campus signs international co-operation agreement
A Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed between the Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal Triangle) and the Oberlin College in Ohio, USA. The signing of the memorandum signifies the start of a long term collaboration agreement between the two institutions and representatives from the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Information Technology as well as Campus Management convened for the signing of the agreement. The Campus Rector, Prof Thanyani Mariba, signed on behalf of the NWU Vaal Triangle.
The Campus Rector, Prof Thanyani Mariba, together with representatives from the Faculties as well as Campus Management met with a deligation from the Oberlin College in Ohio.
According to the conditions of the agreement the focus of the collaboration will be on recognizing mutual interests in the fields of research, development, higher education, training, sharing of technology and the long-term dissemination of academic information. Apart from the promotion of mutually beneficial scientific and educational endeavours, other relations include research collaboration; staff exchange, joint publishing of articles, assistance with regard to post doctoral fellowships, the design of collaborative research projects, cultural exchange for students from both institutions as well as the opportunity to benchmark best practices with regard to student development.

Over the past five years a total of 15 students from Oberlin have been welcomed on the campus as part of a community outreach project and two formal delegations visited the campus. According to the Campus Rector, Prof Thanyani Mariba, both faculties will benefit from the agreement and he is eagerly awaiting the future outcomes linked to this agreement.
