Colloquium focuses on post-graduate research proposals
Research, practical implementation and the fostering of a research culture within the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Information Technology were the focus of a recent interactive colloquium. The colloquium saw post-graduate students – busy with their honours-, masters- and doctoral degrees – interact with academic staff within the faculty to not only discuss research proposals but also to have their proposals scrutinised by their peers.
Academic staff from the faculty furthermore shared their scholarly and research expertise to guide the students in finalising their research proposals. According to Dr Pieter Vosloo, coordinator of the colloquium, the initiative aimed to create a discussion forum from which staff and students can interact in terms of research and research output and therefore the colloquium is set to become a frequent event within the faculty.
The Dean of the faculty, Prof Herman van der Merwe, congratulated the staff and students for their commitment towards enhancing the research capacity and output of the faculty and said that research represents the foundation upon which future success can be achieved.
