The admission requirements for the BCom degree in Accounting Sciences are as follows:
The BCom degree requires a minimum APS score of 21 and mathematics level 3. Due to capacity limitations an additional requirement can also be requested, such as a minimum average percentage in grade 11. Specific admission requirements per curriculum are listed below. SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR BCOM (3 YEAR)
BCom Chartered Accountancy for CA (SA)
APS score 30, Mathematics level 5, applications will be considered on merit
BCom Forensic Accountancy
APS score 36, Mathematics and Accounting level 5, language level 5, applications will be considered on merit
BCom Management Accountancy (CIMA)
APS score 30, Mathematics level 5, applications will be considered on merit
BCom Financial Accountancy (SAIPA)
BCom Taxation
APS score 28, Mathematics level 4
BCom Accounting and Informatics
APS score 28, Mathematics level 4
Students who did not have Accountancy as a subject at school, must successfuly complete the short course in accounting at the Potchefstroom Campus. Should the short course not be passed with a minimum of 65% the student should register for ACCS111. Students who achieved at least 65% in ACCF at the end of the first semester will be allowed to continue with ACCC121 in the second semester. If a student achieves 65% in ACCF121 he/she can write the second opportunity examination in ACCC121 and if the result is 55% admission to the second year CA-accounting can be obtained.
