 SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTING SCIENCES

Personnel from the School of Accounting Sciences are involved with the community on a variety of levels and also serve on several professional councils and committees. Expert advice and input are thus provided on different levels. Due to the diversity of such involvement, it is not easily quantifiable.
 

SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

Members of the School of Economics serve on the boards of directors of the OFM radio station and Free State Maize. The School has also at several occasions provided training in risk management to banks and central banks in especially Asian and African countries.
 

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

The School of Business Management coordinates the SIFE (link to SIFE) (Students in Free Enterprise) project on campus and participates in the countrywide competition. Several students are already involved with the project.
Students who under achieve and are in danger of having their studies terminated, are assisted by experts and are monitored over a period of 10 weeks in order to overcome learning problems and/or other problems.

SCHOOL OF HUMAN RESOURCES SCIENCES

The School of Human Resource Sciences continuously do psychometric tests on scholars to assist them in their career planning. Schools are visited, during which time talks are held about the choice of a career and which subjects the School presents.
Industrial psychology honours students from the School of Human Resource Sciences annually present career counselling to approximately 400 learners from the North West Province. Under-privileged grade 9 learners from all race groups from different high schools receive free counselling pertaining to subject choices, fields of study and career choices. These learners would not otherwise been able to afford this service and are thus enabled to make an informed career choice.
