The ATKV Skryfskoolof the North-West University offers a variety of short writing courses to anyone who would want to start with creative writing or wants to improve his or her creative writing skills. The admission requirements is writing talent and a passion for the word art. The courses last between one and five days and are not  just offered in Potchefstroom.

 The annual Autumn School for writers stretches over five days and includes prose, poetry and column writing. The annual Spring School for romance writers lasts three days and focus on writing love stories. The "Gemeentebladkursus" is a Saturday course focusing on the content and layout of congregational publications. The ATKV Skryfskool annually also offers two courses of three days each in different places around teh country, focusing on children's literature.

 The Writing School annually offers at least four "Kanselierskursusse" for young writers in various places. The "Kanselierskursusse", with the support of the PUK Kanselierstrust, normally extends over a Friday and Saturday.

 The Writing School also offers writing courses on demand.
