Research 

Physiology: The focus area Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART) is a young but dynamic group specialising in Cardiovascular Physiology, and has already gained wide recognition. Occupational hygiene forms a part of the Africa Unit for Transdisciplinary Health Research (AUTHeR), which trains people who study working conditions in the industry in order to improve the health and productivity of the worker.

Nutrition: The Centre of Excellence for Nutrition (CEN) exists in the subject group Nutrition. It is a very dynamic and successful research group and receives wide international recognition in many areas in the research on nutrition.

Consumer Sciences: The subject group also forms part of AUTHeR, and specialises in consumer behaviour with the aim of educating the South African consumer to make optimum buying choices.
