DST/NRF Research Chairs
The South African Research Chairs Initiative (SARChI) of the DST/NRF is a strategically focused knowledge and human resource intervention that has five interrelated objectives.
NWU currently holds the following SARCHI Chairs:

SANERI Research Chairs
The purpose of the South African National Energy Research Institute (SANERI) Chair Initiative is to assist the country in building on existing strengths to achieve the critical mass required for a major research endeavour in science, engineering policy and modelling of interest to the energy industry.
NWU currently holds one Associate SANERI Chair:
