FACULTY OF EDUCATION SCIENCES
Service learning and community involvement
The Faculty of Education Sciences is committed to sharing its skills and experience with communities in and around the University. Relations with the community are integrated with teaching and learning, as well as with research and expanding knowledge. It is the mission of the faculty to give all undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to take part in curriculum- and research-based community activities as part of their learning process.
The integration of teaching and learning (service learning) contributes to student preparation for community or public involvement in a diverse democratic society. In the Faculty of Education Sciences service learning help participants to see their work in the larger context of issues of social justice and social policy in addition to the context of Philanthropy and charity. Service learning emphasizes reciprocity between campus and community between those who serve and those who are served.
