Dear NWU stakeholder, The following appointments have recently been finalised and approved. These positions enable faculties to proceed to establish new structures and functionality. Such appointments prejudice neither the incumbents nor any person meeting the requirements, from applying for the positions when they are advertised. In addition to site specific management functions as determined by the executive deans, the portfolio responsibilities thus facilitate the optimilisation of cross-campuses functionality. Please take note that these appointments are, with the exception of two positions at the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, acting positions only - from 1 July 2017 until 31 December 2017. It does mean coordinating and facilitating functionality across the three campuses. It does not mean directing or managing such functionality across the three campuses. “Management functions”: refers to responsibility for all management held by an executive dean or as delegated by the executive dean to the (acting or substantive) deputy dean/ faculty coordinator on the campus concerned. “Portfolio”: refers to a substantive responsibility of a substantive deputy dean exercised across all three campuses with other deputy deans/ faculty coordinators in that same faculty. It does mean directing and managing such functionality across the three campuses under the leadership of the executive dean. “Portfolio responsibility”: refers to the responsibility held for a portfolio as delegated by the executive dean to an acting deputy dean or faculty coordinator. Portfolio responsibility is exercised with other acting deputy deans/ acting faculty coordinators on the campuses. It does mean coordinating and facilitating functionality across the three campuses. “Assigned function”: refers to the additional responsibility assigned by the executive dean for coordination and facilitation (within a portfolio for example, community engagement and stakeholder relations or its variants) across the three campuses. Acting deputy deans and acting faculty coordinators are appointed on a fixed-term basis from 1 July to 31 December 2017 which may terminate before December 2017, if an appointment in the substantive portfolio is made. Beste NWU-belanghebber Die volgende aanstellings is onlangs gefinaliseer en goedgekeur. Hierdie poste stel fakulteite in staat om nuwe strukture en funksionaliteite daar te stel. Sulke aanstellings verhoed nie die posbekleërs, of enige ander persoon wat aan die vereistes voldoen, om aansoek te doen vir die poste wanneer hulle geadverteer word nie. Behalwe plekspesifieke bestuursfunksies soos bepaal deur die uitvoerende dekane, maak die portefeulje-verantwoordelikhede dus die optimalisering van tussenkampusfunksionaliteit moontlik. Dit beteken wel koördinering en fasilitering van funksionaliteit oor die drie kampusse heen. Dit beteken nie leiding of bestuur van sulke funksionaliteite oor die drie kampusse heen nie. "Bestuursfunksies": verwys na die verantwoordelikheid van die uitvoerende dekaan of soos gedelegeer deur die uitvoerende dekaan aan die (waarnemende of substantiewe), adjunkdekaan / fakulteitskoördineerder op die betrokke kampus vir alle bestuur. "Portefeulje": verwys na 'n substantiewe verantwoordelikheid van 'n substantiewe adjunkdekaan uitgeoefen oor al drie kampusse heen met ander adjunkdekane / fakulteitskoördineerders in dieselfde fakulteit. Dit beteken wél leiding en bestuur van so 'n funksionaliteit oor die drie kampusse heen onder leiding van die uitvoerende dekaan. "Portefeulje-verantwoordelikheid": verwys na die veranwoordelikheid vir 'n portejeulje soos gedelegeer deur die uitvoerende dekaan aan 'n waarnemende adjunkdekaan of fakulteitskoördineerder. Portejeulje-verantwoordelikheid word uitgevoer saam met ander waarnemende adjunkdekane / waarnemende fakulteitskoördineerders oor die drie kampusse heen. Dit beteken wél die koördinering en fasilitering van funksionaliteit oor die drie kampusse heen. "Toegewysde funksie": verwys na die bykomende verantwoordelikheid toegewys deur die uitvoerende dekaan vir die koördinering en fasilitering (binne 'n portejeulje, byvoorbeeld gemeenskapsbetrokkenheid en belanghebberverhoudinge of hul wisselvorme) oor die drie kampusse heen. Waarnemende adjunkdekane en waarnemende fakulteitskoördineerders word op 'n vastetermynbasis vanaf 1 Julie tot 31 Desember 2017 aangestel, wat voor Desember 2017 mag eindig, indien 'n aanstelling in die substantiewe portefeulje gemaak is.
