Staged in the Sanlam Auditorium on the campus in Potchefstroom on 30 and 31 August and on 1 and 2 September, the much-loved musical Fame was a thrilling, unforgettable feast for the senses.
The creative team responsible for Fame, namely members of Artéma, Alabama Productions and NWU Potch Arts, took the audience on a glorious journey filled with great performances by talented performers who included students and lecturers.
Alumna Nacia Kruger directed and choreographed this exciting production, while Pieter de Bruin, the artistic director of the Artéma recording studio, was in charge of the music. A nine-piece orchestra provided the accompaniment.

In the ballroom section for adults, NWU dancers scooped a first prize in the bronze category and a third prize in the gold category. In the Latin section for adults, they came second in the bronze category, and first in both the silver and gold categories.
Cross-country fanatics
Another group who is constantly on the move, is the four cross-country runners, Casper Leepile, Pule Nage, Gaopalelwe Manake and Theo Motlhala, who represented the NWU at the South African Cross-country Athletics event in Potchefstroom.
Casper and Theo participated in the under-23 category, while Gaopalelwe and Pule participated in the senior category.
“This was a huge motivation for me, and I am sure for the others as well,” said Casper. “Running has always been my favourite sport and being afforded the opportunity to represent my university in something that I have immense passion for, is truly a blessing.”
